The new modern airport can hold up to 9,000 people an hour and an estimated amount of 30 million people year. They have also inserted a new car park with 7 floors containing 2,500 spaces. The investment of this project cost a grand total of 1.775 billion!
It has taken a long five year wait, but it’s worth it as it opened this past Monday! King Juan Carlos was accompanied by the Queen Sofia as
the doors opened to a crowd of 500 people. King Juan Carlos stated “The Queen joins me to express our happiness at the inauguration of this
new, modern and splendid terminal T3 of Malaga Airport.
This will reinforce its prominent position in the dense network of airports in Spain.” He also quoted that it was the longest standing airport
that’s remained in the same location. The Monarch did make a point in saying that the new modern airport will have more direct flights than
before and also there are a bigger variety of shops and restaurants for you to enjoy while waiting for your plane, delayed or not.
They give a special thanks to the Aena (association of Spanish airports and air navigation) architect Bruce Fairbanks, construction consortium
made up of Ferrovial ,Sando and last but not least to all the directors, technicians and workers who have put all their effort into this magnificent project!
